Brave no longer blocks YouTube Ads

Description of the issue:

Until about a week ago, Brave was the best YouTube ad blocker anyone could imagine. Then it suddenly went away. Initially, YouTube put up a black overlay screen telling me that ad blockers violate their Terms of Service, but now it just feeds me ads.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Go to YouTube. T The first item (in the top-left grid position) will be an ad.
    1. Try to play any video. The video will be proceeded by an ad.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

I have screen grabs, but this dialog does not appear to let me attach them, despite your profession of welcome).

Expected result:

No ads appear in YouTube.

Reproduces how often:

Every time.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

Windows 11
v 1.73.104

Additional Information:

I have been using Brave for several years, and have always thought it was sensational. Security and privacy were what attracted me to the browser. However, if it can no longer deflect YouTube ads, I would appreciate being told this fact. I also think you should remove the claim from your marketing pages.

I prefer to think that this is an anomaly and that you folks will work on it. As I say, I like this browser and would like to continue using it. I also understand the whole “dueling developers” thing that goes on in your business, so if YouTube has won this round, please tell us so that we can make informed decisions about which online client we want to use.

Thank you.
