Description of the issue:

I have both standard and beta versions of Brave installed on multiple PCs and, as far as I am aware, all Windows settings and Brave settings are identical. Yet, while some of them include the option to open a ‘New private window’ when right-clicking the icon, others do not.

Am I being thick? [The week I am having, this is a distinct possibility;)]

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Install Brave.

Right-click Brave taskbar icon.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Some show the option, others do not.

Expected result:

All should show the extended options list.

Reproduces how often:

Every time on the affected PCs.

Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

All, as far as I can tell.

Reproducible on current live release (yes/no):

Yes.

Thanks for reporting @Gilgamesh.

I’m able to reproduce it. Brave Release have an option to open new private window while Beta (and other versions) have no that option.

cc @Mattches @sriram in case it’s a known issue.

@eljuno is correct although I’m not entirely sure why it’s not available on Beta.

@Mattches @eljuno I am able to see New Private Window option in both Release and Beta channels:

Brave Beta - 0.64.60

Brave Release Verison - 0.63.48

Thanks!

@Gilgamesh Can you please let us know on which Brave beta version you are not able to see New private window option?

Thanks!

I’d like to report the same issue. I’m not sure where else would be appropriate. I have just recently installed Brave on my work and home computers.

Both computers being freshly installed with the most recent version of Windows 10. At work I am able to right click the task bar icon and see the options to open a “New Window” as well as “Private Window.”

At home, I am unable to see anything other than “Unpin” I’m not sure what the issue is, as I stated previously, both installations of windows are new and legitimate. The only difference between computers, is hardware.

Here are some screenshots.

Home Computer (Build: Version 0.64.76 Chromium 74.0.3729.157 (Official Build) (64-bit))
157%20(Official%20Build)%20(64-bit)%20Home

Work Computer (Build: Version 0.64.76 Chromium 74.0.3729.157 (Official Build) (64-bit))
157%20(Official%20Build)%20(64-bit)%20Work

I’ll continue to see if there some setting in windows that somehow got changed, but I’m baffled currently.

@Ruik,
That is strange. Have you tried removing and re-adding the icon to the taskbar?
