Description of the issue:
brave://history/ lists visited websites even though on
brave://settings/clearBrowserData :
Clear browsing data On exit is selected and all boxes are checked.
Which settings will clear all history when the Brave desktop browser is closed?
Brave Version: 1.34.80 Chromium: 97.0.4692.71 (Official Build) (32-bit)
When clear browsing data on exit is enabled with all boxes checked, brave://history/
will only list items that are visited in the current session. When you will close the browser, all items will be cleared. This you can verify by visiting brave://history/
immediately after launching Brave.
Thank you for your quick response. Sometimes, only current session items are listed. And sometimes, items from previous days are also listed. I have not been able to determine what I’m doing that causes this. Any suggestions?
Do you have any extensions enabled? Can you test this behaviour in a new profile- Create a new profile to help Troubleshoot
uBlock Origin, 1.40.8, is the only extension and it is enabled.
Will creating a new profile in any way affect my wallet / BAT balance, etc. ?
No. It will be a standalone profile which you can delete later. You can name it as Test Profile to recognise it easily.
@Vrabe,
With the clear On exit
option enabled, it should delete any recent entries as soon as the browser is closed. I am curious whether you’re using the “x” button at the top of the window to close the browser, or Ctrl + W
, or some other method?
I close each tab by clicking the “x” on the tab. When the last tab is closed, the browser closes. Since my initial post, only the current session appears in brave://history/. Hopefully I’ll discover what I was doing to override the settings so I can post it.
Thank you for the update. I will keep this thread open for you to update with any new information.
