Web page notifications do not show up on Linux Mint laptop

Web page notifications I want do not pop up.
Works fine in Google Chrome on this Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon laptop.
Web pages: https://saraacarter.com/, https://www.washingtontimes.com/, https://www.lifezette.com/
Notifications are allowed and Pop-ups and redirects are allowed for these web pages.
I do get Brave popups.

  1. Log into a new web page that sends popups
  2. Allow them
  3. Edit the site information to allow Notifications and allow Pop-ups and redirects
  4. Wait for them, and wait, and wait. They will not display.

Have I configured the settings for these pages incorrectly?

Brave Version - Version 1.10.97 Chromium: 83.0.4103.116 (Official Build) (64-bit)
LinuxMint Kernel: 5.3.0-61-generic x86_64 bits: 64
Distro: Linux Mint 19.2 Tina base: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic
Machine: Type: Laptop System: LENOVO product: 81LY v: Lenovo IdeaPad L340-17API

Can you try going to https://www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html, and forcing the notification to pop up and tell me whether or not it displays?

I authorized it and then “showed” it and it did work.

@RonRafajko,
Okay so notifications are functional, they’re just not working for specific websites. Lemme reach out to one of our filter engineers and see if they know more information about why this may be happening. Appreciate your patience.

I just tested this here, in Brave Release:

Google Calendar asked to send notifications of appointments, I approved it.
I set up a test event with a 5 minute prior notification.
I received it on my phone and a few seconds later on this laptop.

Got my first notification this morning from a web page (https://www.dailywire.com/). No others so far.

Just got another DailyWire notification. Have not seen any others other than the Brave notifications for sponsors.

These notifications via a website directly is often delivered by 3rd-party server. Which is different to how Brave rewards is delivered.

Anyway, blocking this specific domain jeeng.com will prevent the notifications.

I don’t want to prevent them, I want them to work.

Any new / update?H has this been verified?

When it comes to notifications provided by 3rd-party servers, this is a privacy issue. No matter how useful or convenient the “feature” is, privacy should come first. If the website has self hosted/standards-based notifications setup, this will still work in Brave.

If you’re wanting notifications to be used on this specific site, you will need to disable Trackers and Ads in shields.

That fixed it. Thank you!
