Videos recently stopped rendering correctly - green diagonal line, distorted

So this started a couple days ago. I then checked for updates and exited and reopened. On some websites it’s a lot worse. The screenshots explain:

from: https://rumble.com/v29u65a-hogwarts-and-chill-part-3.html

Rumble it’s always like that. YouTube has the same problem SOMETIMES but it flickers for like 1 second and goes back to normal. Always with the green diagonal line and then the other stuff distorted in the same manner.
If I click pause on a YouTube video it STILL flickers into that every 10 seconds or so (only for about 1 second)

OK I noticed on Rumble again 2 things
pop out video shows correctly

Also it appears if my mouse cursor hovers over the video it messes up, but if I move the cursor away it apparently goes back to normal

WTF

I have been having the same problems within last few days on embedded YouTube videos and Twitter videos as well as Rumble. Often notice if I hover my mouse off the video in a news article, the video will play correctly.

Is this a Brave browser issue or something else?

Hello @lolcox, thank you for reaching us out. Can you try disabling the following: Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

Also, going to brave://flags > Search 'Vulkan' > Disable Vulkan > Retest

Let us know if that helps. Regards.

Same thing here, workaround:

Enter chrome:flags, search for “Choose ANGLE graphics backend”, choose one other than Default/D3D11 (I use D3D9 for now), and restart the browser.
