Videos continue in closed iPad windows

Brave is my browser of choice on my Apple iPad. When visiting sites such as thelibertydaily.com, if I have selected a Rumble video and decide to no longer watch the video by closing the window, the video sound continues to play in the background. If I close the browser app the sound stops but, if I open it again, the sound continues. Weird! I have had to revert to Safari when visiting sites that might contain videos.

@floridajack when you created this topic it had a template asking you for information. It seems you deleted that and chose not to answer anything.

Part of the reason it asks is to track things, like which version of Brave you’re using.

Just a FYI, what you’re reporting is an issue that was fixed in the newest update of Brave that just went out not long ago. It would be great to know if you just haven’t updated and that might be all that’s needed to fix the issue, or what might be going on.

Either way, really would be good for you to provide more details such as what version of Brave you’re on, which version of iOS is on your iPad, etc.

Sorry, new to the Community. Brave browser on my iPad is 1.76, iPad OS is 18.4.

@floridajack yes, you were on the old version. You need to update your browser. Check the App Store for updates

Thank you. I am constantly asking to update my Brave browser on my desktop, but never asked to update on my iPad. App Store does not offer an update to 1.76.

Current version of Brave is 1.77

It should be available to you. If not, don’t know why you wouldn’t. Perhaps just needs another little while to show up. But the fix for the issue you are presented is in that update whenever you can update to that version of Brave.

Thank you for your interest. Nowhere in my Apple iOS Brave settings, for iPad or iPhone, is there any way to check for an update. I’ll keep looking in the App Store.

I too am having this issue. I close the tab, and the audio continues to play. And also when I press the button on my ipad to stop using it, the lock screen has the video displayed as paused, even though the tab is closed. This happens on a few different video sites, including youtube. But its not happening every time. Just most of the time. I have to either close brave entirely, and reopen it, or if I play a different video the sound switches to the new video.

I have this issue on my iPhone and iPad with brave. Both devices are running the latest iOS version and Brave version 1.77. This issue has been recurring for at least 8 months. This seems to be a bug problem being carried over from version to version and the bug somehow hasn’t gotten noticed though there’s a plethora of posts about this. The code is OSS on GitHub so either this is intentionally happening, devs are getting sloppy, or the script kiddies need to learn how to debug. Either way, there is zero excuse for this. Seriously. The suggestion is to upgrade to 1.77. That suggestion sucks and has proven NOT to work. We get told the devs are working on it? Seriously? It’s that difficult? So far, Brave has given no real meaningful response or fix to this issue. Worst part is if the few of us here are bitching, imagine all your users who aren’t and just go back to Safari or the Fox. For a browser lauded for its privacy, this is a glaring privacy issue. You guys need to fix this crap. This is beyond a simple bug by this point.
