Description of the issue: When closing a video playing on a tab, the sound keeps playing. This happens in normal mode and in private mode. Only force closing Brave will stop playing the sound. This is really really annoying. I have all background playing settings disabled, in the OS as well as in the Brave settings. Background running on iOS/iPadOS is disabled, but still this very annoying issue persists.
**Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): It is very hard to force, sometimes it double plays and sometimes it doesnât.
Open YouTube. 2. Open a video on a new tab. 3. Close the tab.
Sometimes Brave will keep playing the audio even while the tab is closed.
Most of the times it happens is like this:
Open YouTube.
Long press on a video to show the popup menu.
Select to open it in another tab.
One of the following behaviors occurs:
The video plays normal.
The video plays and the same audio track of the video plays as well but lagging like a half of a second.
The audio is of the video is playing at the moment of selecting to open it on a new tab. When the new tab is opened, the same audio track of the video is playing, only one is lagging a half of a second.
Close the tab and one stream of audio of the video is still playing even while the tab is closed.
NOTE: The preview playing videos option is disabled in my YouTube account.
To stop the audio from playing can only be done by force closing Brave.**
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Cannot make screenshot of audio streams.
Expected result:
Playing only a single audio stream of the video that is shown.
Stop playing persist audio of the video.
Reproduces how often:
Very very often, but not on command. It is very difficult to reproduce. But it happens very often.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
@steeven I discovered that this issue seems to be caused by the Brave playlist functionality, or at least releated to it.
To reproduce for example on an iPad:
Open YouTube and long press on a video. A popup is opened of the video. It takes a few seconds when the video starts playing. Now, at this point, with the popup opened and the video playing, your also hear the audio of the video. When clicking on another tab, the popup is closed but the audio keeps playing. The audio of the popup keeps playing even when refreshing YouTube tab or any other tab. The audio keeps even playing when closing all tabs. But the audio stops when opening the Brave Playlist. The video in the popup playlist is not on the playlist. The playlist shows zero items. The playlist option âEnable Long Pressâ is disabled. The description for this option is âWhen enabled, you can long-press on most video/audio files to add them to you Playlist.â
I hope this helps the Brave developers to fix this very annoying problem.
Iâve got this issue too. It doesnât matter how the video was opened. But when I click on a video in Facebook, the YouTube page of that video opens but it only plays the audio. The video is not starting. I have to scroll the video in order to be able to start it.
