I have been using Brave Browser for a long time and just over a year or two ago, I have been having a hard time getting into my Uphold account.
When I reached out to their so-called support, they were no help! As per my understanding, I have been locked out of my account for some time and when I did reach out, they did not want to provide a solution.
Therefore, my Brave Rewards that was tied to Uphold is now believably at a point, where it may be gone. What are the options for the Brave team to assist with my Upload account to regain my access?
Would Brave be willing to have an alterative option to use a non Uphold/Gemini account for individuals like myself?
What Operating System and Brave version are you using (Menu → About Brave)? It’s not an OS and/or version issue.
Is your Brave Rewards Profile currently verified? (yes/no): Was verified but not able to regain access due to Upload and Gemini refused to provide support.
What date did you connect a your Brave Rewards Profile?: Do not recall.
Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past?: No, did not get this far.
Are you using a VPN? (yes/no): No
Are you in a supported region (see here for list of supported regions)?: Yes, Canada.
Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)? Do not have an Android
Have you fully completed Uphold’s CDD requirements?: I was an Uphold client when I started to use this browser. Unfortunately, Uphold indicated there was a hacker that used a whole bunch of people’s accounts and when I tried to re-activate, they are refusing to help.
@va3 In terms of limited functionality, it means you never finished all the KYC/AML/CDD requirements which they are forced to comply with due to government laws & regulations.
In terms of them saying they can’t offer you an account, it makes sense if you never accomplished KYC/AML/CDD. This is because they’d have no idea if you are who you claimed, if you were attempting to use someone else’s identity, or what? I see you wrote to them and they are saying that they are upholding that decision. Nobody from Brave or on this website will be able to help you with that.
It depends on what you’re speaking on. Brave is looking for additional partners. However any partner or option they provide will require you to supply all of your information to the provider so they can meet all legal requirements for KYC/AML/CDD.
That said, this likely is not going to happen any time soon. Your options are Gemini (if you’re in the United States), BitFlyer (if you’re in Japan), or Uphold for other countries.
So a long time ago, I used the Gemini service and it automatically asked me to use another service called Globalid. However, A few years ago, Gemini decided to not be partners with them and when I verified who I am. I completed it with both providers.
@va3 Yeah, unfortunately nothing here can be done about it. If you think it’s because you failed to submit paperwork to them or complete a stage of your KYC/CDD, you can try writing to them again to explain the situation, if you didn’t.
If that response is what they gave you even after you attempting to appeal the decision and explain things, then it does mean that Uphold has decided to permanently refuse to offer you an account because they determined you a risk.
Sad to hear, but as said, nobody from Brave can help. That’s just between you and Uphold. You’ll essentially be stuck waiting for whenever Brave is able to get another custodial partner if you want to earn BAT from Rewards.
