UNRESOLVED 1 year later, Confirm Sync Button does nothing

Description of the issue: Clicking Confirm Sync Button when trying to sync two computers does not work and has not worked since Sync has been released. There was a ticket about it here never solved: Sync: Nothing happens after I click ‘Confirm Sync Code’

This has been tried on Mac and PC, both doesn’t matter which one I generate a code on and which one I try to confirm code on.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Clicking Sync on computer #1
  2. Click starting a new sync chain and selecting computer
  3. Copied the code
  4. Pasted the code into the “I have a sync code” for computer #2
  5. Clicking “Confirm Sync Code”

Expected result: Syncs settings extension and bookmarks

Brave Version( check About Brave): Latest version always and currently 0.69.135

I’ve been able to narrow it down.

My iOS iPhone will Sync with QR code with either my Windows or Mac machine. However, if I sync my phone with my Windows machine, the Mac won’t sync. If I delete the sync, and sync my phone with my Mac, then the Windows machine won’t sync. The button does nothing

It looks like you’re behind 1 one update – can you please update to v 0.70.121 and re test to see if you get the same results?

Sync among my existing devices no longer appears to be working. Is there a way to trigger sync gracefully? I’m on the v 0.70.121 release.

That was my mac computer which was already working fine. Updated and still same issue.

Hi @seosmooth, sorry for the inconvenience here. Looking at that issue originally linked, I don’t think it quite captured your problem. If it’s OK, I’d like to follow up in a DM to see if I can get some more information on your sync account and try to do some debugging server side.

@mrvco can you elaborate a little bit on sync not working? For instance, if you create a bookmark on one, do you know longer see it on the other device?

Hi,

It’s seemingly narrowed down to different OS PCs such as Windows/Max/Linux simply will not sync with each other - but will with mobile. Where as possibly most others have one PC & OS perhaps?
