Unable to remove taskbar items

Could someone please help me to understand how to remove Brave taskbar items as the right click “remove from list” option does not work for .docx files. I’m not sure how those Word files got there as I don’t remember ever opening them in Brave.

On deleting the most visited and recently closed pinned items up pops the Word docs that I am unable to remove from the taskbar.
