Unable to open banking app (ABN Amro) from the browser

Description of the issue:
Since approx. two weeks ago, I’m unable to initiate a payment via iDeal while using Brave browser on my mobile. The step that doesn’t work is the redirect to the banking app (ABN Amro). Instead of opening the banking app automatically after initiating the payment, I’m now taken to a screen asking me if I wanna use an app or a physical device for authentication. If I select the ‘app’ option, nothing happens.
If I open the same link in Chrome, it works just fine and I’m forwarded to the banking app.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
From your mobile, initiate payment on any website using the iDeal option.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
I’m taken to a screen asking me if I wanna verify the payment using banking app or a specific physical device. Selecting the ‘app’ option doesn’t do anything.

Expected result:
After hitting ‘pay’ or equivalent I’m taken directly to my banking app to process the payment.

Reproduces how often:
At the moment I’m consistently unable to execute online payments via iDeal on my phone. My workaround is opening the payment links in Chrome to finish the transaction but this is not sustainable.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Android v13
Brave browser v1.57.53

Dear Brave, I have this same issue. Most unpleasant.

@jacobwarris
Hello,

I had a similar problem with a French application whose identification web page includes a tracker.

Did you disable the shield to solve your problem?

Yes, sorry should have mentioned that in the initial report. Disabling the Brave shield doesn’t help. The forwarding to the banking app still doesn’t work.

This is because of privacy settings. By default, Brave has it to open links in the browser and not to open external apps. If you want to reverse this, just go to SettingsBrave Shields & Privacy → scroll down to Other privacy settings area where you’ll see a toggle for Allow appl links to open in apps outside of Brave.

If you have that turned on, links you click will open in their app instead of Brave.

That helped, thanks!
