Unable to access Settings > Appearance

**Description of the issue:
New to Brave - When I try to change the homepage by going to Settings, I see a bunch of character on the left side of the page and a big scroll bar along the bottom. When I scroll right, I see the buttons to toggle on and off, but can’t see what they’re for on the left side of the page.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Click “Edit Preferences” from New Tab
  2. Settings comes up as a mess of characters that I can’t navigate.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

**Expected result:
I attempted to uninstall and reinstall, hoping this would resolve the issue. It did not. I would like to be able to access Appearance so I can change the homepage.

**Reproduces how often:
This happens every single time I try to access Settings.

**Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 Home, Version 1903
Brave Version 1.7.98 Chromium: 81.0.4044.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

Hi @lukrisi, Welcome to Community!
Can you try quitting Brave, reopening it and entering brave://settings/ into the url. I want to see if you get the same screen without clicking the Edit Preferences button.

Can you also try creating a new profile and going to brave://settings/?
Click on the menu icon in the top right corner > create a new profile.

Entering the url for settings gives me the same results.
Creating a new profile allows me to access Appearance.

@lukrisi,
That’s good that it works in a new profile. Do you have any extensions on your main profile?

Ha! Apparently my last reply was too short. Here are some more characters for you to sift through before I tell you that…

I have the Adobe extension but nothing else.

Wanda

Can you try disabling/removing the extension, and trying to access Appearance

Removed extension.
Same result – Not able to access Settings > Appearance - Neither by clicking through nor by putting brave://settings/ into address bar.|
