Two Brave Update Services

I uninstalled brave from my computer last week and have just noticed that there are two services: Brave Update Service (brave) and Brave Update Service (bravem) still on my system.

Is there any way to remove both of these entries, please?

I have a windows 10 Home laptop with version 10.0.19045 Build 19045. It is a DELL inspiron 5584 , 64-bit.

Kind Regards

Hello @ngwillis

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and we’re happy to help you. It checks for updates to the brave browser you can turn it off in services, please follow steps below:

  • Brave update service (brave)
  • Brave update service (bravem)

To disable:

  1. Right click on it go to properties
  2. Under general tab
  3. Stop the service if already running
  4. Select disable from the dropdown menu beside startup type
  5. hit apply then ok.

You can also disable the Continue running background apps when Brave is closed option in Settings.

it allows websites to deliver notifications even when the browser is closed. Let me know if that works and have a great day!

Hi.

Thank you for the advice.

I have already set both services to disable.

Since I have already uninstalled Brave from all of my devices, this is only a problem on my Windows 10 laptop.

Is it possible to remove both of these services entirely via the registry?
If not manually, would it be possible if i re-install Brave and uninstall it?
