Touchpad input not working while Brave browser is opened

Description of the issue:
When the browser is open, If I take my fingers off the touchpad and leave it untouched for a second or two, the next time I go to use the touchpad the mouse doesn’t take input and it takes anywhere from 1-20 seconds to register input again. This is not a PC problem as it does not occur ever unless Brave browser is opened, and then it occurs every time the touchpad isn’t used for a few seconds. Multiple restarts have not helped. Disabling extensions also hasn’t helped.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. open brave browser on a device with a touchpad
  2. try to move mouse

Expected result:
mouse doesn’t move

Brave Version( check About Brave):
v1.61.120

Additional Information:
Experienced on a Dell Precision 5560

To confirm, this does not occur for you in other Chromium based browsers?

Also, in Brave, can you please try going to Settings —> Advanced --> System --> Hardware Acceleration and disable this setting and see if this makes any difference?

This issue only occurs on Brave browser.

The issue seems to be resolved after the Hardware Acceleration change. I won’t say for sure due to its intermittent nature, but I will come back if it happens again.
