Description of the issue:
“Private Window with Tor” no longer auto-connects to Tor like it used to…oh 20 minutes ago before I downloaded a new Brave update.
How can we tell it to connect if it’s not automatically connecting?
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Start with version of Brave browser for which “Private Window with Tor” works fine.
- Update Brave to Version 1.71.114 Chromium: 130.0.6723.58 (Official Build) (arm64) for MacOS 14.2.1
- Open browser
- Click on hamburger menu on the right
- Select “New Private Window with Tor”
- Get a new window, observe that it says stuck on “Disconnected”
- Click on “Disconnected” but nothing happens
Expected result:
“New Private Window with Tor” will produce a window that initially says “Disconnected” but that will quickly connect on its own.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
1.71.114 Chromium: 130.0.6723.58 (Official Build) (arm64)
for MacOS 14.2.1
Additional Information:
So far I’ve tried
- searching this forum for related posts/questions
- all of these suggestions
- clearing browsing data and restarting
- going into
brave://settings
and toggling anything related to Tor off & on - disabling my VPN connection
- checking
brave://components
for an update to Brave Tor Client Updater (Mac) (sadly it’s already up to date) - restarting Brave again
One thing I haven’t tried: Downgrading Brave.
