I have so many tabs open, and can’t find a good way to manage them.
Existing solutions that are too cumbersome:
- Bookmarking pages and re-opening later. Too cumbersome because firstly I don’t want to clutter my bookmarks, having to delete later. (I often use open tabs as a memory jogger, like a to-do list, but I use bookmarks for long term reference). Plus I can’t just bookmark selected tabs, it’s one, all, or none.
Related issues:
- When I choose “User vertical tabs”, there seems to be absolutely no way of scrolling to see earlier (hidden) tabs that don’t fit in the tab list. So I no longer use vertical tabs at all.
Closest feature to solve too many tabs issue, that almost works:
- Tab groups. Problem: does not work as expected. When using horizontal tab lists, it would be most helpful and obviously usable if creating a tab group and putting tabs in it: a) removes those tabs from the horizontal list of tabs/groups, b) and to access them, tab groups should have a drop-down menu that lists tabs in that group. BUT currently, tab groups seems to be a more or less useless feature, since tabs assigned to a group just appear to the right of the group, in fact only INCREASING clutter in the horizontal list of tabs, as it ADDS a tab representing the tab group, without hiding any regular tabs assigned to it.
Further thoughts:
-
Given this feature is so inadequately developed for my purposes, I would like to suggest a further feature on top of the above (of hiding tabs assigned to a group), which I presume you have not done: implement bookmarking of tab groups, and managing of those bookmarks, as groups, and individually.

Group heirarchies: although it could actually make it harder to use and end up in even less manageable complexity, and it certainly I imagine would be harder to develop, and right now I think it would probably be a bad idea, perhaps allowing groups hold other groups to any depth could be explored/implemented.
