Search engine reverts to default after switching from another tab

Description of the issue: Attempting to search with a different engine will search with the default engine after switching tabs.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Either add a custom search engine or choose one of the included engines that is not your default.
  2. Activate the engine chosen in step 1 by typing its shortcut and then pressing Space or Tab (as per your setting in brave://settings/searchEngines).
  3. Enter a search query.
  4. Open or switch to another tab.
  5. Switch back to the tab with your search query.
  6. Press Enter to search.

Expected result: A search is performed using your chosen engine.

Actual result: A search is performed using the default engine.
