Search Engine keeps using Brave Search instead of selected

No matter what I select in the search engine setting, any time you type in the address bar it defaults the search to Brave. I have uninstalled the browser and reinstalled, and it stills has the same affect. And worst off the damn search doesn’t even return the proper results. It shows me all the wonderful things about Brave Search. See attachments.

Description of the issue:
Will not use selected defaulted search engine

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open setting select Something else
    2.close browser reopen and type in search bar

Expected result:
Use the right search engine

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.74.48 Chromium: 132.0.6834.83 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Sometimes, toggling settings works.

Sometimes, reviewing and using combinations of settings at

brave://settings/clearBrowserData

works. And, sometimes, using a new Brave Browser Profile for testing the issue, reveals some contrast and thereby a clue.

I’m getting the same problem on Brave 1.74.51 on Windows 11 Pro Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.2538)
