Right clicking on a highlighted phone number doesn't make a call

Description of the issue:
Right clicking on a phone number produces an option to call from my connected phone but when I try to place the call, a “Connecting” message appears in the address bar and then I receive an error.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Highlight a phone number and right click
  2. Select “Call From [Phone Brand Name] Phone” from the context menu

Expected result:
A phone call is made from my Android device (this works just fine using Google Chrome).

Additional Information:
This, and the related issue of left clicking on TEL links doing nothing, has been reported in several other threads that have automatically closed without a resolution, including here.
