Remove close buttons on tabs

I find having a close button on each tab very annoying, and it frequently makes me close tabs accidentally. I’d like an option to remove tab close buttons. When a thread was created requesting that Google implement this option for Chrome a few years back, they arrogantly just said “no” because it would “make the product experience worse” or something. So I thought I’d see how the Brave team reacted instead. Could you guys implement this feature?

Oh yeah, I never thought about this but it would be useful. I close 100% of the tabs with CTRL/CMD+W. Well, except for the ones that I close against my will. As OP has mentioned, it’s easy to accidentally close a tab via the “close” buttons (especially if there are many narrow tabs).

I created an account to post this feature request.
I close my tabs using Middle mouse button or Ctrl+W. The little close button takes up unreasonably large area of a very small tab when a lot are open, and I NEVER use it intentionally.
I realize some want to keep it but to me it only causes trouble or wastes time when avoiding it.

I don’t know why I bother even checking in on here any longer. All the major beefs I have with the browser are completely ignored. These are basic features found in so many competitors yet lacking here.

I’m getting the feeling this is merely a place to vent. It’s sad that things like this can’t get fixed.

When I am in a hurry I am always closing the tabs by mistake with the X. When I actually want to close tabs, control-X is much easier. The close button on the tabs is nothing but a nuisance, a booby trap.

OH HEY! YOU WANTED TO SELECT A TAB, BUT HAHA, WE CLOSED IT FOR YOU.

Now hopefully the website is built such that ‘unclose last tab’ takes me back to where I was. But it doesn’t always.

@b_ravebrow had a similar conversation with someone yesterday. You may want to check my reply to them as a lot of it applies to what you’re mentioning as well.
