Hi all,
I am trying setup and recover BAT on a new Brave browser installation
Mac OS 14.3.1
Brave: 1.64.109
with a seed phrase created by Brave browser ver: 0.70.121
Using the Default Ethereal wallet - Extensions (Brave Wallet fallback)
Import existing wallet → Restore from seed phrase (WITHOUT Import from legacy Brave crypto wallets selected)
I get this ETH Address: 0xD886BC5860c72C11300660cbBa1ad7e77C1603b5
Using the Default Ethereal wallet - Extensions (Brave Wallet fallback)
Import existing wallet → Restore from seed phrase (WITH Import from legacy Brave crypto wallets selected)
I get this ETH Address: 0xCC12A617635B314e259508Bc437AbC63aa78EC9d
Using the Default Ethereal wallet - Extensions (Brave Wallet fallback)
Import existing wallet → Import from legacy Brave crypto wallets
I get the same ETH Address: 0xCC12A617635B314e259508Bc437AbC63aa78EC9d
Using the Default Ethereal wallet - Crypto wallets (deprecated)
Import using account seed phrase
I get the same ETH Address: 0xCC12A617635B314e259508Bc437AbC63aa78EC9d
Problem is that the address I see in my original records and transactions from when I first bought the BAT the address is: 0x604abc0c2Ab0D0B7844c2d1dda86cfd3B5926D4d
My original brave browser 0.70.121 on old hardware hangs when trying to open the crypto wallet otherwise I would export the private key and add the account that way but that doesn’t seem to be possible unless I can repair this installation.
Is there a different legacy version of 24 word seed phrases from version 0.70.121?
I noticed that there were also Niceware 16 word seed phrases used at some stage and a tool to convert these to BIP39 https://jonathansampson.github.io/brave-tools/bip39-from-niceware/
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Mark
