Description of the issue: Problem with Tor windows by deleting a file
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):
- Delete the “tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0” file.
- Open Brave
- Open private Tor window
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
The Tor window does not obscure the IP address; both non-Tor and Tor windows have the same IP address.
Expected result:
The Tor window should not open.
Reproduces how often: Apparently always
Brave Version: 0.60.48
Reproducible on current live release (yes/no): Yes
Additional Information:
Hello,
I reported once that Kaspersky reports the file “tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0” as “not-a-virus:NetTool.Win32.TorJok.bag”. I was told by Brave staff in the forum that it was a bug, but the way I am, I delete the file even with new versions of Brave.
But the problem with the whole thing is an update within the last time. Before this update the button “New private window with Tor” was made invisible after removing the above file. Now the button remains and the Tor window opens.
So I checked my IP address with both a Tor window and the normal Brave, and both addresses are identical. When deleting the above file, the Tor Window Open button should be invisible/disabled, or, for example, information should be displayed inside the Tor window that something is wrong, and the window may not be working properly (or something like that)
I don’t think I need to explain to anyone why this is important.
For the record: The deleted file was on my computer under C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\cpoalefficncklhjfpglfiplenlpccdb\1.0.4\tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0
