Problem with search widget

Since the last update of Brave for Android (Version 1.68.134), the search widget on my phone’s home screen is not working properly.
When I first tap the widget I see the search screen, but when I start typing it doesn’t auto complete any results (it also doesn’t show recent top sites).
When I click my phone’s home button and then tap the widget again, it works as it should and shows suggestions and auto complete.

First time:

Can you try removing and re-adding the widget? I just tested on my end and the widget seems to be working as expected.

I tried removing and re-adding the widget but it didn’t help, unfortunately.
Also tried clearing the app’s cache and restarting my phone, but still the same results.

I have the same issue and in addition when I try to search anything, it doesn’t loads or loads so slow.
