Brave Search Widget Status
As of June 1, 2025, Brave removed the search widget from their Android application, reducing the available widget options to only two Users expressed dissatisfaction with this change, noting that the remaining widget does not adapt to the available space and always defaults to showing four icons Some users have resorted to using third-party alternatives like “Simple Search” to fulfill their needs for a search bar widget
On June 2, 2025, a user reported that the search bar widget was completely absent after updating the app This indicates that the removal of the search widget is a recent development affecting users’ ability to perform quick searches from their home screens
Users have requested that Brave reconsider and reintroduce the old search widget, emphasizing its usefulness and the lack of suitable alternatives
