Pop up tab ads, started after last update

Description of the issue:
After last update i started getting tabs opening up on their own, approximately once every 10 minutes. the tabs are ads of various websites. i thought it’s malware, i did the reset, i did the anti virus scans, it only replicates in my browser which is Brave. i went to sleep, and woke up to like 50 open tabs. nothing changed on my PC and my hobbits after last update, still same extensions, same everything.

Exact URL of the website in question:
Website blocked: https://ad.doubleclick.net/pcs/click? - this is what i get, because brave blocks it, if i unblock it, it’s a website with advertisement.
i did blocked the site in internet options on PC

Screenshot of the ad as it appears in Brave:

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)
yes, shields are on

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
the site shouldnt even function. the new tabs should not open on their own.

Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no)
did not test. it’s jsut browser open and few tabs i opened myself

What OS are you using when you see the ad?
windows 11
Brave version (check About Brave):

Version 1.75.175 Chromium: 133.0.6943.54 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@klimarov it sounds like you do indeed have some form of malware, possibly that is installed as an extension in your browser. Had you recently installed anything? Also, when you have your browser open, have you paid attention to your Settings → Get Started to see if anything is set for On Startup to open on anything in particular?
