Brave shields unable to block popup/new tab ads

Description of the issue:
I am getting new tab ads quite frequently on a website while using brave shields wherein random links are getting opened in new tab while clicking anywhere on the current website. Accessing the very same website with uBlock Origin doesn’t have these issues whatsoever.

Exact URL of the website in question:

Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no)
yes

What OS are you using when you see the ad?
Windows 11

Brave version (check About Brave):
Version 1.73.89 Chromium: 131.0.6778.69 (Official Build) (64-bit)

On another note, i have noticed way too many people having reported same issue on brave with different websites. In brave://settings/content/popups → Don't allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects is already selected but it never really works for these websites in my experience. Even Aggressively block ads and trackers option doesn’t work.
Why can’t we have a proper fix like uBlock Origin instead of reporting individual sites. If its due to a filter, we must have that missing filter by default. If its due to something else, why not merge that new tab blocking technique itself from uBlock Origin

haha yes. Thanks for the heads up, the issue is resolved.

Just out of curiosity. I am assuming these new tab ads getting blocked through some filters ? Do Brave not use all of uBlock’s default filters ?

Hello @fanboynz i am facing this issue on many different streaming sites. I would report them all together at once but in the meantime i wanted to know how does uBlock Origin get around this ? Is it some filter or something else altogether
