Please enable installation of .crx extensions that are not from Chrome Webstore

I understand why Brave Browser will not allow for the manual installation of extensions not from the Chrome Web Store. However, there is an excellent extension called AdNauseam that clicks every ad to confuse tracker networks. However, It has been banned from the Chrome Web Store for being too effective. So why not allow the manual installation of .crx extensions into the Brave Browser after the user has read a short warning on the risks. Or better yet, just implement its source code directly into brave itself.

at least give us an option in brave://flags/ for advanced users to disable this functionality

I was able to install this extension using the instructions they provided on Github.

  1. Download the latest adnauseam.chromium.zip file from releases
  2. Extract the zip file to a folder where it can remain after install

Warning: Do not delete this folder after install or the extension will be disabled

  1. In the Chrome menu, click Windows > Extensions or type chrome://extensions/ in the address bar
  2. Make sure the ‘Developer Mode’ checkbox is ticked
  3. Click ‘Load unpacked extension’ and go to the folder from step 1. Make sure you select the folder with the name ‘adnauseam.chromium’ (without a version number)

Steps 3-5 accomplish the goal of installing unsigned extensions.
