How to enable the adnauseum extension

I wanted to give the adnauseum extension a try.

I had to download a .CIX, because it is banned from Google’s repo.

Having installed the .CIX, I am not allowed to enable it.

Is it possible to enable this plugin somehow?

Following the directions for Chrome will also apply to Brave

Have you tried it?

I tried, and I was not allowed to enable the extension.

This page says:

Extensions that have not been published on the Chrome or Brave Web Store are grayed out and you won’t be able to turn them back on.

Use disabled extensions

If you need to use a disabled extension, you can contact the extension’s developer and ask them to upload their extension again.

I am using macos, so the Windows and Linux hints don’t apply.

Have you tried the method suggested by @fanboynz, which includes unpacking the zip file and loading it manually by clicking “Load unpacked” in the top left corner of the Brave extensions settings page?

That method works for me. The .CIX extension gives me the same error message.

I just tried it again, and it worked! This is what I did:

I clicked on “Install-AdNauseam-on-Chrome-Without-Google’s-Permission”, which told me it had moved to https://github.com/dhowe/AdNauseam/wiki/Install-AdNauseam-on-Chromium-based-browsers

I followed the intructions given under https://github.com/dhowe/AdNauseam/wiki/Install-AdNauseam-on-Chromium-based-browsers#install-adnauseam

Goodness knows what I was doing wrong last March!
