Part of my search disappears

Description of the issue: (I use Brave as web-browser but DuckDuckGo as search engine). When I type in the search bar in a new (usually incognito) tab, and then I stop typing for a while or click away, and then I write something more and click enter/search, it only searches on what I wrote first and everything else after the initial things I wrote disappears.

Brave Version (check About Brave): Version 1.73.101 Chromium: 131.0.6778.139

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

Somewhere in the Brave Browser Settings, there are 2 switches that provide for a wide URL address field and full URL address.

Enable those.

Can you be a bit more detailed? For example, are you switching tabs? Switching apps? Or perhaps staying on the same page and just scrolling through things?

Just as I like to be careful on assumptions, you’re seeing the while search term, right? Sometimes when we click on the search bar, it highlights text. Then when we continue typing, it overwrites it. While I’m assuming you’re mindful of this and it isn’t what’s happening, I have learned it’s good to confirm.

I’m thinking you may be experiencing issue as related to Address bar search Bug

If so, can you also confirm if you have Show autocomplete suggestions in the address bar disabled in your settings? And if so, whether enabling fixes it for you?

It happens when I have a new tab open and I write in the adress bar. I tried it now and it’s specifically when I switch to another tab.

No the text does not get overwritten.

It did work by enabling autocomplete suggestions (but I unchecked the different types of suggestions because I don’t want them) thanks

@Mattches wanted to tag in as seems to be related to Address bar search Bug where you had a Github open. I don’t see any movement on the issue since you created it. Not sure if may want to ping anyone or what you may suggest?

Will ping someone internally
