My issue is that for over a year im not getting notifications from https://web.whatsapp.com/
I have settings enabled to receive them.
But to be clear i am getting notifications but not the once i used to get.
I get ubuntu (linux) notifications and not browser notifications.
Everytime someone talks on whatsapp in the brave browser i get a big pop up on the top of my screen (big and ugly once) when i disable this setting in ubuntu i dont get any notifications at all.
A year ago i had it turned off but the browser enabled, and i got a small nice compact notification in the bottom right corner but they are not showing up anymore.
Why is that?
I forgot to mention. If it doesn’t work for you, go to the hamburger menu, privacy settings and enable Use Google services for push messages and restart. And then you will start receiving notifications.
You tried the new private window without extensions, maybe some extensions should interrupt notifications. If you are on the Stable version, it is best to disable all extensions and see if it works
Also try a new clean profile without extensions and see if it works for you
Also try the other option, the Beta version, and Nightly without extensions
It’s strange that it doesn’t work for you on Ubuntu. Most likely you clicked on some setting and maybe that’s why you’re not getting notifications on WhatsApp.com. What you could do is reinstall the system and see if the notifications work for you. Or try another Linux Mint distro and see if there’s any hope if it works for you.
Well i do get notificstions but it is ubuntu notifications just as i would get from a upgrade. But in the past i could get a brave based pop up, which looks totally different then a ubuntu based pop up notification.
@Erikje this sounds like a change in the way notifications are displayed by the OS, not by Brave. What about notifications from other applications? Can you please produce a notification in another browser or application? I would expect that they would appear in the same way.
