Notifications by Brave for sponsored services like VPN and Protonmail

Hi,

New user of Brave. - Very frequently Brave sends out messages using the notification function to advertise for the use of Protonmail or a VPN service.

I understand Brave looks for some income with sponsored deals but it keeps sending those notifications. Not every week or month but many time an hour. See no option to turn that of.

Function now behaves as a function to make sure new users will keep using Brave as short as possible by pissing them off with those ads, what is ironic because the main selling point of Brave is blocking ads.

Question;
How to turn this off?
Is this behavior of the ‘push the Brave ads’-function normal?

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install Brave
  2. Use it
  3. Wait until the Brave-notifications come. Should not take long.

Expected result:

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Versie 1.12.114 Chromium: 84.0.4147.135 (Officiële build) (64-bits)

Additional Information:
MX Linux

Turn off ads and you will not receive any ads
If you want to receive other ads then below that you will see 7 days ads history click on that
and then block ads

Thanks! - I have looked extensively in all the settings menus. The problem was that I did not associated those ads from and for Brave themselves as an ad because I believed that was about ads in general from other entities.

There should be a [?] button on those notifications to give that explanation like you have posted. It is more likely when a new user get those notifications and does not understand the logic behind it the will switch back away from Brave then looking here or somewhere else for an explanation.
