Please edit your Original Post (OP) above, to include:

  • Brave Browser version numbers
  • MacOS version numbers

Where Brave Browser has usually been installed on the Mac:

/Applications/Brave Browser.app

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/CrashReporter/Brave Browser ... .plist

/Users/username/Library/BraveSoftware/

/Users/username/Library/Caches/BraveSoftware/

/Users/username/Library/Caches/com.brave.Browser/

/Users/username/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Brave Browser ... .crash

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.brave.Browser.plist

/Users/username/Library/Saved Application State/com.brave.Browser.savedState/

And the “Brave Browser … .diag” reports within:

/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

You might not find:

/Users/username/Library/BraveSoftware

. . . do not worry about that.

That information is a guide, in case you decide to completely remove the Brave Browser installation.

DISABLE Notifications wherever you find the settings.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • brave://settings/clearBrowserData

Select the Advanced tab. Time range: All time. Clear cookies and cache.

Exit / Quit everything and Restart the Mac.

Run the installer.

When completed, Exit / Quit everything and Restart the Mac, again.

ENABLE Notifications.

Test

If problem remains . . .

Without BB running, remove:

  • /Applications/Brave Browser.app
  • /Users/username/Library/Caches/BraveSoftware/
  • /Users/username/Library/Caches/com.brave.Browser/
  • /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.brave.Browser.plist
  • /Users/username/Library/Saved Application State/com.brave.Browser.savedState/

NOTE: Removing the com.brave.Browser.plist file, may cause some of your Brave Browser Settings to change back to their default.

So, before doing all the removing, mentioned, look over your Brave Browser Settings and make note of those which you would re-establish after the Brave Browser installation. Screenshots will help you.
