- I have a U.S. passport and I live in the Dominican Republic.
- I cannot pass KYC for a U.S. CEX.
- There is no Dom. Rep. CEX.
- I have a Brave Web3 DEX hot wallet.
- I can find no way to connect to an account to receive awards.
- So this means I am not eligible??
@kajdna address has to match with passport. So even if you managed to get KYC, it wouldn’t let you connect to Rewards because you’d be putting Dominican Republic but then it would see USA passport. (not to mention Dominican Republic isn’t supported for linking to a custodial account)
And so without being able to connect to a custodial account, it means you can’t earn for yourself at this time. You can still participate in Rewards which will put earnings to Creators and Brave, but not to you.
That said, Brave is gradually rolling out on chain payments. Just have to keep an eye out. You may want to read through some of the links and info shared over at PSA: Current and upcoming changes to Rewards and Creators
Thanks. I feared as much. I will uninstall Brave browser as it is a “no go” for earning passive crypto. A shame.
@kajdna or you just be patient. The next batch of invites to on chain payments is going to be focused on countries that can’t link to custodial accounts. Not sure how many people will get the invite or which countries, but always a small chance you could get lucky.
But that’s all up to you. And if you’re only using Brave for Rewards and can’t see the value of the built-in adblocker, increased privacy, better performance, Web3 features, etc…then perhaps just really isn’t the browser for you either. Brave is a lot more than just trying to earn crypto.
@Saoiray
You are correct that Brave is a robust browser that can be recommended for uses other than earning passive crypto. For me, Opera is my preferred “sweet spot” for its UI + VPN. Brave, for me, was a single use case for passive crypto.
That being said, you gave me a good idea. I run a Linux box also. I will install the beta channel for Brave on linux and therefore perhaps increase my odds of an invite to the chain payment option.
But what are “chain payments” and how could that program resolve my KYC failure issue?
On Chain payments. This would be getting paid directly to your crypto account instead of having to go through a custodial account like Uphold. As such, there is no KYC/AML required.
