No syncing of settings, bookmarks, extensions, passwords, etc. to a particular google account but only in the local drive of the device

Unlike Chrome, there is no syncing of settings, bookmarks, extensions, passwords, etc. to a particular google account but only in the local drive of the device. Do you think of this as an issue in cases wherein I lose the app data?

Hi @ankitsaurav11, Welcome to Community!
Can you elaborate on the issue at hand?

If you go to brave://settings/braveSync and create a sync chain - there is an option to sync Settings, Passwords, Bookmarks and others.

What is your version number?
What is your OS?

Thank you @Aa-ron for the response.
The issue is not with how it syncs right now. It works perfectly well in the way it has been setup.
However, unlike chrome wherein all the information is synced to cloud through a google account; herein they is no such sync. Thus, the information only stays local to the devices on which Brave browser is being used and incase I was to lose that file on the local system, all my info.(includes bookmarks, settings, extensions, passwords, etc.) would be lost forever.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi @ankitsaurav11,
Your Sync data is encrypted and sent to a Brave server where your other devices pull updates from.
Here is a wiki for more info on how sync works:

@Aa-ron
Thank you for the clarification. This does clear up things.
However, if I were using Brave on just one device and say the device crashes and is formatted, losing all local data. Is there any way I would be able to re-install Brave browser and set it up with all my settings and bookmarks intact?

Sync is not designed for data backup

@Aa-ron
I understand. But wouldn’t one want his bookmarks saved, even if the rest of the settings aren’t saved to avoid building a data profile for the person?
