dō omowa remasu ka?
Hello, I’m a Brave user from Japan.
YouTube’s specifications have changed and you can no longer block ads, but I’ve come up with a new idea.
Even if you can’t block advertising videos, I found that simply muting the audio while an ad is displayed can significantly reduce stress.
If possible, I would like you to implement a function to mute while ads are displayed. Since it does not block the video, YouTube
I don’t think it violates the terms of use.
Brave is still able to block ads. You just need to do the following
Make sure you keep Brave updated to the latest version
You visit brave://components and update everything there if you ever experience an issue. These otherwise should be automatically updating in the background every few hours,.
Limit the use of extensions, especially any that might have ad blocking capabilities. For example, Enhancer for YouTube was one that caused headaches for a lot of people because they didn’t realize it could also block ads.
If you do get the message warning you about blocking ads, sometimes it’s there due to a cookie they put on your device. So after the above, you may need to clear YouTube and Google cookies from your device.
Generally speaking, you will have no ads on YouTube and won’t receive the warning about using ad blockers while using Brave. There may be short periods where YouTube has updated and Brave can’t stop it, but that generally gets fixed in a matter of hours. All you would need to do is come post somewhere like YouTube Aggregated issue (Merged Topic) or your own topic at https://community.brave.com/c/support-and-troubleshooting/ad-blocking/78 to advise that the issue isn’t resolving and the team will investigate and make changes.
