Link from external application opens new instance of Brave browser

When I click on a link from an outside source, such as Twitter, it opens a completely new instance of Brave. My Default Browser is Brave (Version 0.58.17 Chromium: 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)). The new instance opens up in this version:

Brave 0.25.304
Brave Sync v1.4.2
libchromiumcontent 69.0.3497.100
Muon 8.1.8
Node.js 7.9.0
OS Architecture x64
OS Platform Microsoft Windows
OS Release 10.0.17134
rev 3ecf323
Update Channel Release
V8 6.9.427.23

I can’t find a setting that indicates that new links should be opened in a new instance. When I click on a link in the default version of Brave, it opens a window as a new tab, which I would expect.

Thanks.

Hi, this is probably because the default browser Brave is 0.25 in the old version.

There are 2 possible solutions:
Once you change the default browser
or
you delete the old Brave version.

In the future also please specify which operating system you are using.

Thanks. I’m using Win 10 Pro.

So, uninstall the one highlighted below?

Yes, the 0.25 version.
Then you can make the new version your default browser as follows:
Key combination: Windows key + i (hold down) until the preferences window opens. There you click on “Apps” then on the left side on “Standard Apps”.
For web browsers, select Brave. Done!
