Brave set as Default Browser will not open links

Description of the issue:
I have set the new brave browser as default after uninstalling the old brave awhile ago, but when i try to click a link i get a loading icon on my mouse then nothing happens. I’ve had the problem for awhile now but I just switched to firefox cause I never thought to ask on here

How can this issue be reproduced?

1.Set brave as default
2.Click link
3.Nothing happens

Expected result:
For the link to open up on brave

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 0.68.131 Chromium: 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
My gf had the same problem, said that the way to fix it was to delete a “Old brave file that doesn’t get uninstalled with it” but i could never find it.

@Holymancow,
Make sure that you’ve fully uninstalled/removed any – as your gf calls them – “old Brave files” from your machine. You can use this guide to ensure you get everything.

After that, in Windows, search and openDefault Apps. Reset them (or at the very least, the one for the default browser) to defaults. Then, either manually select/add Brave as your default web browser there or click a link and choose Brave when you’re prompted to select a default application.

Neither local or roaming app data have the brave folder (The one in the guide you sent, that is.) and brave 0.27.3 doesn’t exist on the uninstall screen. just the new one im trying to use now.
