With the latest release there appears to be some new additions to copying to clipboard, this seems to have broken some basic functionality with how control+c/command+c works as instead of copying the text it then copies the window.location.href instead.
I noticed this on my personal laptop and now on my work laptop with the latest update this is happening so I know it is with the browser as I am not seeing it anywhere else. Sometimes it copies correctly though which is the strange part. I never changed my brave settings so if this is some auto-enabled setting then let me know where it is to turn off. It is very frustrating that I canāt copy/paste with my keyboard shortcuts anymore. Thanks!
Like mentioned, sometimes it works but then other times it just copies the window location rather than the highlighted. Iām 99% sure this has something to do with the latest release. Please provide a fix, thanks!
Iāve seen this in the following
code snippets, such as chatgpt code snippets, github pr files
phpmyadmin trying to copy data inside a data field, it copied window url instead.
If this helps with debugging then thatās good, otherwise I am not sure how else to explain it. I will get a video on my personal laptop later today after work. Thanks!
Iām experiencing the same exact problem!! Except, for me, when I do command-c (which had always been the copy shortcut for me on Mac) it now copies a url link from whatever page Iām onā¦ I looked under the āEditā menu tab on the top left and sure enough, it shows no keyboard shortcut for regular ācopyā anymore but instead shows right beneath it ācopy clean linkā with the shortcut ācommand-cāā¦
Any ideas how to fix this? Can we manually set browser keyboard shortcuts on Brave for mac?
I am encountering the same issue where the ācommand-cā shortcut on my Mac, which previously functioned as the copy shortcut, now copies a URL link from the current page. I also checked the āEditā menu and noticed that the regular ācopyā shortcut is no longer with the shortcut, but instead ācopy clean linkā is displayed with the same ācommand-cā shortcut.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? Is it possible to manually customize the keyboard shortcuts for the Brave browser on Mac?
Seeing same broken behavior.
In middle of code interviewing, due to recent tech layoff. And this is bug cost me an interview.
Had to switch back to another browser, until this is fixed.
Using V 1.49.128, the hotfix addressed most but not all of the issue. Cmd+C is working in most contexts and is correctly identified in the menu. However, every few days Brave will still display the old behavior (along with the old hotkey in the menu) until I restart it.
Unfortunately thatās an older version of Brave. I do believe Brave no longer supports Mac Ventura, meaning you canāt update. If thatās the case, thereās not much that can be done for you.
That said, I do believe you are on a version where there may have been a workaround available. If you go to brave://flags, do you see the option for Override default copy hotkey with copy clean link? If so, set it to Disabled and see if you notice a difference.
Other than that, all that can be said is for you to update everything when you can.
@erick Are you still having this issue? If so, please advise which version of Brave and which OS youāre using. Also see what I mentioned just prior in this comment in case any of it might apply to you.
