Just downloaded brave, keeps crashing

Description of the issue:
Just downloaded brave for the first time, latest version on win10. Brave keeps crashing around 10 to 30 seconds after I launch the browser. It crashes even if I don’t do anything after launching brave. This issue was occurring even on default settings, when I hadn’t changed any settings to try and solve this issue.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Launch Brave
  2. Wait 10 - 30 secs
  3. Brave crashes

Expected result:
Doesn’t crash

Brave Version:
v1.52.129 (Jun 28, 2023)

Additional Information:
Failed solutions:
-turning off brave news / cards on dashboard
-toggling “Use hardware acceleration when available”
-creating a new browser profile

Can you please open the browser and quickly go to brave://crashes and share the crash report IDs with me here so we can take a close look? If the reports are showing Send now, please click this button on each report first, then relaunch and share the IDs.

Hi, when I go to brave://crashes it says that no crashes were recorded, even though I have “Automatically send diagnostic reports” turned on.

That seems very strange — can you tell me what behavior you see when the browser “crashes”? Does it simply shut down/disappear? Are there any error messages (or messaging of any kind)? When you restart the browser again, does it show the Brave didn't shut down properly. Do you want to restore previous tabs?" message?

Additionally, can you please try downloading the Beta Build of the browser and tell me if you get the same results when you try to run it?

Sorry for the trouble. When it crashes, the window simply closes itself and disappears. When I restart it again, it does show “Brave didn’t shut down properly. Do you want to restore previous tabs?”

As for the beta build, the same issue also persists

Do you have any anti-virus software installed at this time?

Additionally, can you please try going to

C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Crashpad\reports

and tell me if you see any crash dumps here? If so, please let me know so we can work out a way for you to send them for us to investigate.
