Increased space between bookmark entries displayed in bookmark folders

Description of the issue:

When clicking on folders listed on the Bookmarks bar, there is more space between each entry listed causing fewer bookmarks to be displayed without scrolling. While I think this may have happened before, it became very obvious overnight since for one folder I access daily, I now see 37 entries while yesterday I saw 41.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Use earlier release of Brave
  2. Create a Bookmarks folder accessible from the Bookmarks bar.
  3. Create bookmarks in that folder until you have to scroll down to see all of them when clicking on the folder.
  4. Count the number of bookmarks visible without scrolling.
  5. Update to the latest Brave release.
  6. Click on the same folder and count the number of bookmarks visible without scrolling.

Expected result:
There will be fewer bookmarks visible without scrolling.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.70.117

Windows 10 Pro 22H2
OS Build 19045.4894

I can confirm this here on Chromebook/Linux as well.

It looks like this is also happening for action menus that popup when you right-click on items such as images and links.

Yes, I can confirm this also here on Chromebook/Linux.

I HATE this! I don’t want extra spacing and thus less bookmarks visible and then have to scroll. Please fix this or give an option to opt out of the extra spacing. Or please advise how to reverse it? Thanks!

Is there any way I can fix this through chrome settings? It’s quite annoying and complete waste of empty space.

Ditto. This is a real pain.

Please add this as a configuration option ASAP.

I also posted regarding this bug several days ago, and agree that this must be fixed. It affects all dropdowns and not just bookmarks.

Now listen to me Brave devs, I will be harsh because I was lovingly using the Brave probably for the past 4+ years. If I wouldn’t care about your own good and my own convenience, I wouldn’t give my time and effort to criticize right here right now, instead I would have change my browser already.

I have used Firefox for like 10+ years and for the EXACT reason, the sudden increase between in the space between bookmarks, I have trashed it and changed to Opera. Then I have used that probably for couple years, and they have increased the space between bookmarks too, and I have trashed Opera and since then I am using Brave for many years. Now, I don’t know what the hell you are thinking, if trying to turn every part of the app to touch-finger friendly bs, I don’t care at all. All I care about the “CONSISTENCY”. If you are gonna do such changes, you are gonna give OPTION for people to choose from, and DO NOT FORCE them.

Brave now can show 32 bookmarks in a folder.
Firefox can show 39 bookmarks.
Opera show 26 bookmarks.
No one cares about spyware Chrome but it also shows 32 bookmarks.
And MS Edge can show 29.

If you don’t fix this in a week, I am out. And I am so sure I am the not only one feeling the same about this, there will be more people who will be out. Because it seems like Firefox listened people in the past years when I was not looking and gave space for more information instead of filling it with empty space, so I have a place to go already; I just don’t want to give my 30~60 minutes and setup it.

We are users and we seek for information, we look for information and we work with information in the information age, and definetely not with empty space.
