I'm unable to update brave browser

I have not been able to update brave browser for a few months now. I’m running Windows 7.
When I go to 'About Brave" it checks for an update and I get this error message:

An error occurred while checking for updates: Het downloaden is mislukt. (error code 7: 0x80072F7D – system level).

When I go to brave.com to download the latest version (https://laptop-updates.brave.com/latest/winx64) directly I get yet another error:

This site can’t be reached

laptop-updates.brave.com ’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.

DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE

I’m beginning to experience issues with several extensions so it would really be great to find a solution or maybe another place where I could download the latest version!

What DNS provider are you using? It seems like they are not resolving the domain that Brave uses for updates.

Thanks for your reply. I found out, by accident, that there was an entry in my hosts file blocking access. It was 0.0.0.0 laptop-updates.brave.com
I have no idea how it got there, I certainly didn’t add it. But I removed it and I could finally update brave!
