How to use an old extension that doesn't exist anymore?

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

Install any extension that has been pulled from the Chrome Web Store.

Expected result:

Extension is working and installed.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 0.68.132 Chromium: 76.0.3809.132

Additional Information:

I have an old extension compiled in .crx. This extension has been pulled from the CWS and the developper disappeared.

The extension works perfectly in Chrome. I’d like to install it on Brave, this was possible before but apparently now Brave does not let me activate the extension.

Can you please let me know if there is a workaround?

Thank you!

@thisisbbc,
I believe if you enable Developer mode in settings you can do this:
Menu --> More Tools --> Extensions --> Developer mode

Thanks for the reply.

This is indeed exactly what I did. However it seems that some sort of security measure was added in an update because it doesn’t let me activate the extension anymore.

It’s installed but greyed out, apparently because Brave can’t find an URL to the package in the Chrome Web Store.

I was wondering if there was any way around that? Maybe a flag to disable somewhere?

Thank you!
