It appears that there is no solution for the time being to this, except the use of an extension such as https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/home-new-tab-page/ehhkfhegcenpfoanmgfpfhnmdmflkbgk

it’s block on my side
go to brave://settings/newTab and set it to blank page it will be black if your brave theme is black and white if your brave theme is white
