How to block first party ads?

Did the issue present with default Shields settings?
Yes

Block: Ads/Trackers, 3rd Party Cookies, 3rd Party Fingerprinting Allow: Encrypt Connections (HTTPS), Scripts
I can’t find how to block ALL the 1st party ads blocked by default.
I’m aware of the right-click > Brave > block element by selector (even though it seems not working on this new release), but it’s not what I’m looking for.
I want that all the first party ads were blocked by default so I don’t have to go through each single website and set the rule for that specific website.

I’m sorry but I couldn’t find anything online.

Where and how do the ads appear? (fill out below)
First party ads, like in gmail > social, reddit home page, etc.

What Brave version/Build are you using? (About Brave)
Version 0.56.12 Chromium: 70.0.3538.77 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hi @overkill22,
Apologies for late response.

There’s currently no option to block 1st party ads by default.

cc @Mattches @luke.mulks on this. I forgot if there’s a plan to implement this or not.

is there any workaround in the meantime?

There are other ad blockers you can install via extension if you want that functionality. But for now, you can use the CSS filter (as mentioned above) to block elements you select. Remember that your selections will be remembered until you manually clear them.

Filter should be working in all versions. More info on CSS filter here:
