These ads are first-party ads (Google ads on Google) and therefore considered “acceptable ads” .
If you wish to block these, it would be smart to consider an (additional, possibly systemwide) ad blocker.
There are many options, depending on your wishes, but some good tools you might want to consider are uBlock Origin and Adguard .
Keep away from Ghostery or Adblock Plus, since those have privacy concerns.

Those ads you see on Google are first party ads. They are not blocked by default.
See this topic on blocking first part ads:
Did the issue present with default Shields settings?
Yes
Block: Ads/Trackers, 3rd Party Cookies, 3rd Party Fingerprinting Allow: Encrypt Connections (HTTPS), Scripts
I can’t find how to block ALL the 1st party ads blocked by default.
I’m aware of the right-click > Brave > block element by selector (even though it seems not working on this new release), but it’s not what I’m looking for.
I want that all the first party ads were blocked by default so I don’t have to go through each single web…
But this would essentially eliminate all the performance gains from the brave ad block, wouldn’t it?
