My suspicion is that it has something to do with fingerprinting blocking and prevent websites from tracking you by your language settings. It seems to be rarer when I disable both settings, but it still appears.

It’s a really triggering issue when you get randomly flashbanged by a website you expect to be in dark mode, which works in every other browser, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, but for some reason, in Brave, Google.com switches back and forth between dark and light mode when dark mode is enabled. This thing made me quit using Brave multiple times, to come back and realize that this silly issue is still there.

Yes I know google sucks, privacy wise. Yes I tried other search engines. They’re ok, actually, including Duckduckgo and Brave search. But this is a clear displaying issue, and I still quite like using Google.com. In dark mode.

It’s not just the theme, it also messes with search settings. For me it always resets the results region.

There are several threads about this, such as this one: Very weird Brave behaviour

I have this same bug and it happens on both my devices with brave shield up.

Been happening for a few weeks now and still happening

@ukheather,
Not experiencing this issue on my end — can you please tell me which devices you’re using when you see this issue? If desktop, can you tell me if you’re running any extensions at this time?

The settings and extensions don’t matter. I am on a fresh installation of Windows 10 and Brave and it’s happening even more often than before I formatted.

Looks like we have an issue open for this on our Github here:
