:g switch in address bar doesn't change search to Google just opens a results page

I use an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone at home. For work I use Windows 10 or a Windows 10 Virtual machine running in Parallels on either the iMac or MacBook Pro. I use Duck Duck Go as the default search in Brave on all my devices.

Here’s what I’m seeing. I don’t know if it’s a bug or by design so I’m reporting it as a bug.

On Brave running on The Mac and MacBook, (I haven’t tested in tablet or phone), when I type the switch :g it changes the search bar from Duck Duck Go to Google. When I do the same thing in Brave on Windows 10 it stays in Duck Duck Go and takes me to a search results page with Google as the top search result. Additionally since the :g doesn’t work I tried clicking on the Duck Duck Go icon at the far left of the search bar expecting to see a list of my search providers and allowing me to change. That is not working either. The cursor doesn’t blink or switch from an arrow to a finger it just does nothing. I don’t know it it works on the Macs as I don’t need it since the : switches work.

Is this by design on a Windows version of Brave? It works perfectly on Mac.

I love it on the Mac because Duck Duck Go is great for privacy but is still a bit lacking in results returned so I switch to Google for anything I don’t care about Google logging. I use a VPN as well.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a workaround. Is there a toggle in the settings to enable this feature that I’m missing? I really love the feature.

Thank you,
