I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to propose a feature that I believe would significantly enhance the Brave Browser experience for many users.
Feature Request: Permanent Pinning of Pinned Tabs
Description:
Currently, Brave offers the “On startup > Continue Where You Left Off” option, which is useful for resuming sessions. However, I propose a feature that allows users to permanently pin certain tabs. This means that even after closing the browser or restarting the computer, these tabs would remain pinned upon reopening Brave.
Why This Feature Should Be Added:
- Enhanced Productivity: Users can maintain quick access to their most important and frequently used tabs without needing to re-pin them every session.
- Improved User Experience: This feature would provide a more seamless and personalized browsing experience, catering to individual user needs and preferences.
- Consistency Across Sessions: Users who work across multiple sessions would benefit from having a consistent set of pinned tabs, reducing the need to set up their workspace repeatedly.
I believe this feature aligns with Brave’s mission to offer a user-centric browsing experience and would be a valuable addition to the browser.
Distinction from Bookmarks:
While bookmarks serve a similar purpose, permanent pinned tabs would offer immediate visual access and reduce the steps needed to open frequently used pages. This feature would complement the existing bookmarking functionality by providing a more readily accessible option for users’ most frequented sites.
Similar Features in Other Applications:
Some productivity applications offer similar “persistent workspace” features, which have proven popular among users. Implementing this in Brave could potentially give it a competitive edge in terms of user convenience.
Implementation Consideration:
While I’m not familiar with the technical aspects, I imagine this could be implemented as an extension of the current pinning functionality, perhaps with a “Permanently Pin” option in the context menu for tabs.
Search for Duplicates:
I have searched the forum for similar requests and did not find any that specifically address the permanent pinning of tabs. If this has been discussed previously, I apologize for any oversight.
