Feature Request: Allow Dark mode and Chrome Themes to effect Google Search Appearance

Like many others, I prefer to use Google search as my engine and Google.com as my Homepage/New Tab Page. On Chrome when you set a dark theme/dark mode your Google.com homepage will also change to dark mode.

Like this:

However, Brave despite using Chrome Themes does not support this. And instead looks horrible bright:

I am requesting that turning on dark mode or a theme would also change the appearance of Google search page.

@B0dega, I think you may be able to activate it manually.

Here’s what to do:

  • Pop on into brave://flags:
  • Look for “Force Dark Mode for Web Contents”
  • Alternatively head here and get Dark Reader. Brave is compatible with Chrome extensions natively.

Also, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there is manual settings you can try altering in DarkReader to get an even more OLED looking black.

Hope this helped!

Great, thank you. Do you know if there is a way to enable it for only certain sites? Force all is a bit too brute force for me.

DarkReader has a toggle switch directly in the extension to swap sites between day and night globally vs site.
