Enter Reader Mode for v 1.15.72

I’ve been having this same issue for months now, currently at 1.18.75 and this is still happening. I’m running this on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 and the Enter Reader Mode is greyed out on every site I try to use it on, like this one: https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/11/30/economy-isnt-working-thats-exactly-plan# I switched to Brave because of Reader Mode. Can someone please fix this!?

I have the same issue. “Enter Reader Mode” greyed out everywhere.

  • Version 1.19.86 Chromium: 88.0.4324.96 (Official Build) (x86_64)
  • macOS Catalina 10.15.7

Also can’t enter reader mode:

  • Version 1.19.86 Chromium: 88.0.4324.96 (Official Build) (x86_64)
  • macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B29)

I solved this sissue by disabling script blocking for the site (ie. turn off shields by clicking the lion face), then refresh the page. Reader mode then works. Did not work prior with shields enabled.

  • MacOS Big Sur
  • 2016 Macbook Pro
  • All extensions disabled
  • Brave version 1.19.86

It is! But why is this required? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of using Brave if shields need to be deactivated to enter Reader Mode?
